Dutch soprano Judith van Wanroij studied with Margreet Honig at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and De Nederlandse Opera Academie. She was a first prize winner at the Erna Spoorenberg Vocalisten Presentation and took part in the Jardin des Voix 2005 (Les Arts Florissants). She made her operadebut singing the titlerole of La Périchole and continued singing roles such as Musetta in La Bohème, Karolina in Dvê Vdovy, Drusilla/Virtù/Damigella/Valletto in L'Incoronazione di Poppea, Julia in Der Vetter aus Dingsda, Belinda in Dido and Aeneas, Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos, Thisbé in Pirame et Thisbé, Ilia in Idomeneo, Despina in Cosi fan Tutte, Cléone/Suivante/Ombre in Castor et Pollux, Female Chorus in Rape of Lucretia, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Emilie/Fatime in Les Indes Galantes, Oriane in Amadis (Lully), Hypermnestre in Les Danaïdes (Salieri), Camille in Les Horaces (Salieri), La Gloire/Phénice/Mélisse in Armide (Lully), the titlerole in Phèdre (Lemoyne), the titlerole in Alceste (Lully), the titlerole in Orfeo (Rossi) and La Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro (Mozart) in numerous operahouses and festivals in Europe (DNO, Liceu, Teatro Real, Opéra National de Lorraine, Opéra Royal de Wallonie, Aalto Theater Essen, Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Wiener Festwochen, Concertgebouw, Philharmonie de Paris, Wigmore Hall). Although her career includes styles from the period of Monteverdi to Britten, she specialized herself in French Baroque Music, working together with William Christie, René Jacobs, Christophe Rousset, Raphaël Pichon, Hervé Niquet, Skip Sempé, Frans Brüggen and Leonardo Alarcon amongst others. Her discography shows a variety of composers like Bach, Purcell, Lully, Rameau, Mendelssohn, Mahler and Gounod.
